I am Cecilia Silva, graphic designer. I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and grew up there surrounded by beautiful art and architecture in the city’s wonderful creative environment. I guess that is where my passion for graphic art comes from. But I think it is also genetic. Both of my parents were talented architects and my interest in design started even before I was aware of my aptitude for it.
Growing up in a big city like São Paulo, not far from the coast, gave me the opportunity to experience two different lifestyles, the sophistication of a bustling metropolis and the relaxed simplicity of the seaside. I lived contrasting lives in the concrete canyons of the city and during regular escapes to the sea and São Paulo´s magnificent verdant coast. Experiencing the extreme differences between the two environments refined my senses and opened my eyes. I learned how to appreciate the full range of choices that life can offer.
I began to explore my affinity for graphic design when I moved to the US and had the opportunity to study commercial art. I have now been working as a graphic designer since 1996, both in permanent positions and as a free lancer. In my most recent position, with the American division of Bisazza, a world renowned Italian glass mosaic tile company, I created interior design projects with mosaic tiles.
What most excites me about my work is the combination of creativity and technique. Together, these two forces expand the possibilities for accurate solutions which are both visually interesting and technically correct. Another aspect of my work which fascinates me is the interaction with clients. Communicating with them and translating their ideas into visual results is a very rewarding process, as well as a continual learning process that allows me to keep improving my work. In that process, my international background gives me an expanded vision and enriches my approach to graphic design and to life in general.

Sou Cecília Silva, artista grafica. Nasci em São Paulo onde também cresci rodeada da beleza arquitetônica e artística do criativo ambiente paulistano. Imagino que veio daí minha paixão por arte gráfica. Mas, há também um traço genético. Meus pais eram arquitetos dos bons. Meu interesse começou sem eu me dar conta da minha própria afinidade com a área.
Durante minha juventude em São Paulo, tive a oportunidade de experimentar dois diferentes estilos de vida ao mesmo tempo. Vivi sob a sofisticação da barulhenta metrópole e da simplicidade relaxante do mar. Um contraste que provei simultaneamente entre a urbanização concreta de uma grande cidade como São Paulo e a natureza envolvente da magnífica beleza do litoral paulistano. Vivendo essa diferença extrema dos dois ambientes apurei meu senso e minha visão e aprendi a apreciar a diversidade de escolhas que a vida pode oferecer.
Comecei a explorar minha sensibilidade como artista gráfica quando vim morar nos EUA e pude então, desenvolver minha habilidade natural ao estudar arte comercial. Tenho trabalhado como artista gráfica desde 1996, contratada por companhias e também como freelancer. Em meu mais recente trabalho para a filial americana da Bisazza, companhia italiana de renome internacional, criei e desenvolvi projetos utilizando mosaicos de vidro e também criando imagens exclusivas.
O que mais me atrai em meu trabalho é a combinação entre a criatividade e técnica. Essas duas ferramentas juntas ampliam as possibilidades de um resultado acurado na busca de soluções visualmente interessantes e tecnicamente corretas. O lado fascinante do que eu faço é a interatividade com o cliente. Comunicar-me com eles e traduzir visualmente suas idéias para um projeto, além de gratificante é um contínuo aprendizado que aprimora cada vez mais o meu trabalho. Neste aspecto, minha formação multicultural me beneficia com uma visão ampla e enriquece minha aproximação com a arte gráfica e a vida em geral.
